#DYK Laughing Bird Caye, named after the laughing gull, is a stunning island in southern Belize with such abundant and diverse marine habitats. This led to the caye being declared a protected area in 1991 under the National Parks System Act.

Meet the Whitelined Toadfish, Belize’s own underwater VIP! It’s only found hiding under corals between Carrie Bow Caye & South Water Caye (5–30 m deep). But with such a tiny population, it’s listed as Vulnerable. That’s why we need to protect its home. 🌊💙
