Today, we gathered to honor and celebrate Sergeant Thieleke, as he retires after an incredible 39 years of dedicated service to our department. It was a heartfelt moment as many members of the service, both active and retired, came together to witness him say goodbye.

Yesterday, we honored Sergeant Fontaine of the 24th Precinct with a retirement luncheon for his outstanding over 21-year career with the New York City Police Department. We thank him for his unwavering dedication and service to the communities he served. Happy retirement SGT!

Despite the chilly temperatures, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and love as runners and walkers gathered for the 4th Annual Memorial Ran/Walk in honor of Detectives Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora and Captain Janelle Sanders.

Yesterday, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with our annual parade - including pipes, drums, and all things green! Let’s take a moment to appreciate all of our officers for all their planning and hard work to ensure that we all enjoyed this festive day safely and joyfully.

Assistant Chief Stephenson and Assistant Chief McCarthy pose as the parade made its way from Manhattan South into Manhattan North. This handshake symbolizes the “passing of the baton” and the seamless transition between our boroughs to keep our parade route festivities safe.

Today, we gathered at the 20th Precinct to commemorate Patrolman Vito Valenzano on the 65th anniversary of his line of duty death. On April 10, 1960, Patrolman Valenzano made the ultimate sacrifice. We were joined today by his family and friends to honor our fallen hero.

Today, we came together for the official unveiling of the 24th Precinct Cardiovascular Fitness Center. This center will provide a vital outlet for our members to stay in shape and in turn, better serve our communities. Thank you Police Foundation and the NYPD Medical Division.

On Tuesday, April 29th, we honored an extraordinary milestone—celebrating Police Administrative Aide Ronald Dixon for his 50 years of dedicated service with the New York City Police Department. Since coming on the job in 1975, PAA Dixon has selflessly devoted his entire career.

Yesterday, we officially rolled out our Patrol Borough Manhattan North Mentorship Program. With the help of 40 volunteer mentors and 200 mentees, we are on our way to building stronger teams and developing better Police Officers every day as we share our experiences and support.

On Sunday, May 18th, the Celebrate Israel Parade took place on Fifth Ave. A heartfelt thank you to the men and women of the NYPD and all the community members, leaders, and organizers that came together for another beautiful, successful, and safe event for everyone.
