Quite a difference in sky conditions from west to east across our region. It has remained largely overcast across the Lower Hudson Valley and NE NJ. There have been some breaks across the NYC metro and along the Hudson River, but it is mostly sunny across much of LI and S Ct.

We anticipate mostly cloudy skies on Saturday, but should remain dry & seasonably warm with temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. There is a chance of a shower or storm well NW of the NYC metro in the eve. Higher chances for showers, possibly a storm, exist at night.

High pressure will gradually weaken over the area today as a frontal system approaches from the west. The daylight hours will likely be dry, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Showers and thunderstorms move through the area from west to east this evening and overnight.

For the first day of September, expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the morning and early afternoon with mostly cloudy skies. A front moves through and begins to dry and clear skies out by evening. Temps will be in the upper 70s/low 80s. #NYwx #NJwx #CTwx

[Radar loop 8:34am to 9:11am] Light showers can be seen moving through the area currently. Expect scattered shower activity through much of the day, with a chance of thunderstorms. The area dries out from west to east late this afternoon, with clearing skies.

After a cool start with temperatures in the 40s and 50s this morning, afternoon highs will rise into the low to mid 70s with plenty of sunshine.
