4/25 to 5/10, 2024 was a busy stretch for National Weather Service. 3,859 tornado, severe, and flood watches and warnings. 267 confirmed tornadoes. Followed by a G5 geomagnetic storm, warnings by NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center prevented major impacts. All while getting ready for hurricane season and onsite for wildfires.

Severe weather remains possible this week in parts of the United States - be sure to check Weather.gov for the latest forecasts and warnings! This continues a busy stretch of severe weather.

Landed in Mobile, Alabama just before NWS Mobile issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

It was amazing to witness the latest NOAA satellite soar toward orbit! GOES-U will be an invaluable tool for the National Weather Service to forecast hurricanes, fires, & severe storms. A new coronagraph will help expand warning lead times for geomagnetic storms.
