The current wind advisory for the northern Greens has been expanded to include the downslope regions of the northern Adirondacks for gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. Gusts in the Adirondacks will be highest this evening, with the higher winds shifting east for tomorrow. #VTwx #NYwx

💦Rain, with pockets of brief heavy rain, will continue this afternoon. Observed rainfall so far has varied widely from about 0.1" to 0.75" with localized areas of greater than 1". ☔️Where it is not currently raining, we expect precipitation to fill back in by this evening.

Yesterdays rain was a welcome sight for many in the drought stricken locations, especially in the Champlain Valley and north and central Green Mountains. Additional light, showery rain is expected tomorrow. Here are the precipitation totals from yesterdays rainfall event:

While we enjoy this brief respite of calm after yesterdays rain, our next system is hot on its heels for tonight and tomorrow. A large upper low across the Great Lakes will move in tonight with scattered showers for tomorrow, and even some lake effect showers in St. Lawrence Co.

As seen in this model-simulated radar loop, there will be a few rounds of showers across Vermont and the North Country overnight tonight into the mid-afternoon hours Wednesday. Embedded thunderstorms will be possible, along with some gusty winds and graupel or very small hail.

An upper low is settling near the Great Lakes. Expect periods of rain showers the next several days. Today may even feature a rumble of thunder and small hail. Areas above 4000 feet may experience some light snow over the coming days as temperatures slowly cool through Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms are moving across the forecast area this afternoon, some even producing small hail. We expect conditions to improve later this afternoon and evening, then shower chances return tomorrow.

Isolated to scattered showers will continue overnight, mainly in areas east/northeast of Lake Ontario as cool air flows over the relatively warmer waters. Otherwise, we expect variably cloudy skies with lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s.

There will be daily shower chances and a cooling trend heading into the weekend. Coverage of showers will be highest today becoming isolated with some high elevation snow showers anticipated. Temps become cooler than seasonal averages over the weekend.

A weak trough will move through today bringing mainly scattered showers for most locations and more numerous showers along higher terrain. Highs will be running in the upper 40s to low 50s. Temperatures will continue to cool heading into the weekend.
