A9. It's possible to simplify operations with multicloud - a common operating model and is important so the teams to support this don't multiply with every endpoint #eweekchat
Today, we're seeing hybrid cloud where data and apps move across edge, core, and one CSP. In 2-4 years, I expect more x-cloud portability as egress charges disappear. #eweekchat
A7. While the data center may no longer the center of data, it's an important source and destination for data and applications. Privacy, cost, performance - these mean a distributed world is the future. #eweekchat
Gen AI will drive multicloud use cases where data privacy matters. We're likely to see that a private model is actually more sensitive and proprietary than the data itself! #eweekchat
A5. I'm seeing the most forward-looking companies classify their apps and data for where they should be optimally located. Data people generally believe data will be more distributed over time and that apps will likely follow the data. #eweekchat
A4. We now have cloud portability standards for both data (S3) and apps (k8s). So a common cloud platform supporting these along with a choice of developer environments can be an interesting solve #eweekchat
The biggest frustration has been customer lock-in through CSP PaaS services. It's important to be thoughtful about what services will restrict the ability to move apps over time. #eweekchat
A2. Gen AI is inherently a multicloud workflow with public cloud-developed LLMs being tuned in private datacenters for inferencing at the edge. #eweekchat
A1. So the potential remains to optimally locate apps and data across cloud endpoints, including the data center, to meet performance, cost, and sovereignty goals. #eweekchat
A1. I'd say multiple clouds are now standard but that's far different from multicloud - where clouds are connected with a common control plane supported by license portability #eweekchat
