9/5/24 Highs this afternoon reached into the upper 70s to lower 80s giving us a very pleasant September afternoon. Temps will be cooler for many of us tomorrow before we see that heat build back in next week.

9/6/24 Temperatures will remain pleasant through the weekend before another mini heat wave moves back into the area. Highs will reach back to near 90 by the middle of next week and other than a few passing sprinkles or showers most of us will be staying dry.

9/6/24 Quite the range in temperatures this afternoon. Our highs were as cool as 64 in York and as warm as 89 in North Platte. By next week those upper 80s will be much more widespread.

9/9/24 4:01 PM It may be September but Mother Nature reminding us it is still technically Summer! 4 PM temps are well into the 90s for many with south winds gusting over 25-30 mph. The heat will stick around for at least a few more days.

9/9/24 Those highs were scorching today for many of us with temperatures into the low to mid 90s for much of the region. Temperatures will only drop slightly later this week with very slim chances for rain.

A fire weather watch is in effect 1pm CT Wednesday until 1am CT Thursday. Winds will be out of the south around 15 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph with afternoon humidity as low as 20 percent. Any fire start may spread rapidly and become difficult to control. #NEwx

9/11/24 5:43 PM Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana as a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of around 100 mph. The storm will continue to move up the Mississippi river over the next few days but does not look to impact Nebraska weather.

We've got some great football weather in the cards this weekend! With high school football happening later today, temps will be in the 80s at kickoff and will cool down into the 70s for the drive home. The Husker game tomorrow night looks very similar! nebraska.tv/weather
