9/4/24 Something to monitor for tomorrow is behind our cold front we may see smoke from Canadian wildfires be brought southward into the region. Those with respiratory concerns may want to take precautions.

9/4/24 8:28 PM A few isolated thunderstorms have developed in north central Nebraska. Storm chances look quite scattered tonight into tomorrow despite the arrival of cooler air.

9/4/24 A hot Wednesday across the region with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s but relief is moving in. A cold front currently moving across the state will drop our highs into the 70s tomorrow.

9/5/24 Highs this afternoon reached into the upper 70s to lower 80s giving us a very pleasant September afternoon. Temps will be cooler for many of us tomorrow before we see that heat build back in next week.

9/6/24 4:04 PM Quite the range in temperatures this afternoon with western areas into the upper 80s, meanwhile a persistent band of clouds has held portions of central and eastern areas in the 60s!

9/6/24 Temperatures will remain pleasant through the weekend before another mini heat wave moves back into the area. Highs will reach back to near 90 by the middle of next week and other than a few passing sprinkles or showers most of us will be staying dry.

9/6/24 Quite the range in temperatures this afternoon. Our highs were as cool as 64 in York and as warm as 89 in North Platte. By next week those upper 80s will be much more widespread.

One of the best and I'm not sure there was a more iconic voice in the business.

9/9/24 4:01 PM It may be September but Mother Nature reminding us it is still technically Summer! 4 PM temps are well into the 90s for many with south winds gusting over 25-30 mph. The heat will stick around for at least a few more days.

9/9/24 Those highs were scorching today for many of us with temperatures into the low to mid 90s for much of the region. Temperatures will only drop slightly later this week with very slim chances for rain.

9/10/24 3:00 PM A persistent band of clouds along the interstate has held temps down for some of us. Only 78 in Lexington but Imperial at 94 and even Grand Island has climbed to 92.

A fire weather watch is in effect 1pm CT Wednesday until 1am CT Thursday. Winds will be out of the south around 15 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph with afternoon humidity as low as 20 percent. Any fire start may spread rapidly and become difficult to control. #NEwx

9/10/24 Despite cloud cover lingering for much of the morning we still saw high temps climb into the 80s and 90s across the region. Temps will stay on the warm side of things again tomorrow.

Hot, breezy, and dry conditions in the forecast both today and tomorrow will lead to fire weather concerns. Red Flag Warnings will go into effect this afternoon and will be in place for many of us through tomorrow evening. nebraska.tv/weather

9/11/24 4:27 PM The warm and windy conditions are leading to critical fire danger across western areas where a red flag warning is in place. 4 PM temps are well into the 80s with south winds gusting over 20 mph. Expect similar conditions tomorrow.

9/11/24 5:43 PM Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana as a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of around 100 mph. The storm will continue to move up the Mississippi river over the next few days but does not look to impact Nebraska weather.

9/12/24 3:02 PM It is warm and it is windy! 3 PM temps are in the mid 80s for most with wind gusts of 30-40 mph being observed in central and western areas. A red flag warning is in place out west due to critical fire danger.

We've got some great football weather in the cards this weekend! With high school football happening later today, temps will be in the 80s at kickoff and will cool down into the 70s for the drive home. The Husker game tomorrow night looks very similar! nebraska.tv/weather
