Jordi Fernandez ends up coaching the same amount of official Canada Basketball SMNT games (12) as his predecessor (Nick Nurse), finishing with one more win (9).

After two full Fiba Americup qualifying sessions (2022 and 2025), some random stats: - Aaron Best is the only Canada Basketball player to play in all 10 games. - Because of that, he is also the highest scorer with 117 points - Second place is a tie: TBH and Phil Scrubb with 79 points

Today's 66 point win for the Canada Basketball SWNT vs. El Salvador ties for their second largest point differential win in Fiba Americup history. Their highest was 75 points vs. the Dominican Republic in 2015 (111-36).

12th straight loss for the Canada Basketball SMNT vs. Argentina at a Fiba Americas tournament (last win was the first game of the 1999 tournament).

Finally picked up my copy of The Golden Generation (and not just because my name is in it 😉). Thanks for the acknowledgment Oren Weisfeld and looking forward to reading!

Coincidentally 4 years ago to the day (Nov. 28, 2021), Canada Basketball SMNT defeated the Bahamas on the 1st day of 2023 WC qualifying 115-73 (played in the Dominican Republic). They were led by current players Kyle Wiltjer (23 points), Aaron Best (21) and Kyle Alexander (12pts/12rbs)

Random jersey number fact: Aaron Best is wearing #8 for the first time with the Canada Basketball SMNT. While wearing #1 most of the time, he’s also worn 2, 11 and 12.

Offical roster has been released for tonight's Canada Basketball SMNT game vs. Bahamas in Toronto: only change is Kassius Robertson is in, Keevan Veinot is out.

Kind of a niche stat, but with his 12 points tonight (so far), Kyle Wiltjer now has the most points in Canada Basketball SMNT history for World Cup Qualification games (starting with the new format in 2019). His 198 (and counting) points overtook Phil Scrubb’s 196 points.

But one niche stat record the Scrubb family still has is Tommy Scrubb, who has played the most Canada Basketball SMNT World Cup Qualification games. He is playing in his 22nd game tonight, overtaking his brother Phil (not a good night for Phil) who were tied at 20 before this window.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but this is apparently the initial 24 man SMNT list that Canada Basketball submitted for the upcoming WC qualifying window (as shown on the Fiba WC Americas website). Not sure if it’s accurate with a few veterans who haven’t played recently.

Tomorrow's Canada Basketball SMNT game against Puerto Rico will be the 14th time they have played an official game in the city of San Juan, with Puerto Rico holding a 8-5 lead. This includes 5 games from the Tuto Marchand Cup between 2007-2015 (sorry 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙩 🏀🍁 😉)

35 points by Marcus Carr for the Canada Basketball SMNT in a clutch OT win vs. Puerto Rico! That ties for the 5th highest point total in an official game in SMNT history

In fact, the Canada Basketball SMNT has only played Jamaica 3 times total (3-0), all in 2013 (twice at the Jack Donohue International Classic, once at the 2013 FIBA Americas).
