We're throwing back to spring break when Betty '36 & her sister hosted a lemonade stand to raise money for Collegiate's Day of Giving. They raised over $100! We love to see philanthropy in action with our youngest learners! Way to go, Betty!

The middle school Explore Room was transformed into a blacklight math haven for a second year, and students loved the adventure. Sixth & seventh grade students worked problems from stations, including fraction decimal percent, positive and negative slopes and more!

March is Athletic Training Month & we couldn't let it go by without honoring the one & only, Coach Talley! From bandages to ice packs to injury follow-up & motivational conversations, Coach Talley makes sure our Mighty Oaks are game ready and able to give it their all!

Habitat for Humanity Club held the FIRST Nickels for Nails drive to benefit Habitat SHR for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Inc. They raised $168 in nickels, which was then matched by generous parents and companies for a total of $648 being donated to Habitat!

Congratulations, Liam ‘36, Kaden '36 & Jeevan '32 on being honored as our March Acorns of the Month! These outstanding Oaks were recognized for exemplifying Norfolk Collegiate's lower school core values of respect, responsibility & safety. Way to go, Liam, Kaden & Jeevan!

Shoutout to Dean Buckingham for being amazing! As part of our US student Day of Giving challenge, Buckingham agreed to be pied in the face if 25 students gave on March 17. The students came through & so did Dean Buckingham, who donned Capt. Collegiate's outfit for the event.

After learning about buildings and towns, our Pre-K4 students created their own town and we absolutely 💙 it!! First, they built houses, public service facilities and businesses. Then they created the roads and added signs.

After nearly 2 weeks of research, product development & preparation, Design Thinking 8 students pitched their inventions to several sharks. Like Shark Tank, students had to ask the sharks for an investment in their companies & the sharks had to outbid others for the business.

Students teamed up with Virginia Wesleyan University students in education for immersive learning activities about the environment. The future teachers worked with Oaks as part of their science units & visited several stations on invasive species, water quality, recycling & more.

Chemistry students reviewed forming compounds through "speed dating." They were assigned specific cations or anions cards & worked together to make a neutral compound formula & list the chemical name. Every minute, they switched partners to continue forming compounds.

Norfolk Collegiate is closed today in observance Good Friday, which occurs annually on the Friday before Easter & is a day of reflection. Yet, do you know why it's called Good Friday? According to experts, the origin of the word "good" means "holy."
