Just a reminder as we go into a new term, that if you teach Y6 then you can access all of my reading lessons that I plan totally free, here - there are loads of them: drive.google.com/drive/folders/… And you can read my blog on how we teach reading here: mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/who…

Any primary school teacher or leader would benefit from listening to this episode….we teach a wide range of subjects and it’s wild to believe they’ll all always neatly fit the same lesson structure or pedagogical approach

The best way to increase the number of your students getting a grade 4 is by improving your school. Better behaviour, better curriculum, better teaching. Worrying about bell curves and stuff is a red herring. Better schools. That's the answer.

I’ve been in and out of this X account for ages, but I’m back on here just in time to proudly welcome you back to Thornhill in just a few minutes. Take it away, Mrs Delaney-Hudson, Mr Wilson - and the wonderful Riley and Amy… Be nice, work hard. #EducatingYorkshire

It’s hard for people to get their heads around this one, but A and B are the same color and brightness. You can crop them out and compare if you like. Visual perception is amazing, but it is also very context dependent. (Credit: Akiyoshi)

Great feedback to receive on a wet and windy Saturday of mock marking. This is why I do the job, school leadership doesn't have to be hard.

I've been experimenting with retrieval Do Nows for ten years. Miniwhiteboards, exercise books, booklets - tried them all. New knowledge, old knowledge, prerequisite knowledge - tried them all. Self assessment, peer assessment, teacher assessment...tried them all! This stuff

I love Gareth’s examples here. Also appreciate the focus on what is a pivotal concept which primary pupils either can cognitively tolerate or become overloaded with: bridging ten. The difference between easy and hard is really big! 😁

I've put together a 5-minute video on how I would use the Dienes Blocks and Place Value Counters interactive tools on Mathsbot to model calculation: youtube.com/watch?v=K5cJRg… The 'exchange' and 'group' features are fantastic.
