Meet Patricia Olenek! Patricia has been volunteering with NSLA for the past two years by laying poppies at various cemeteries around Edmonton. Patricia and her family well also helped paint poppies that were laid in NSLA ceremonies in Europe this past summer.

437 students from Calgary Catholic Schools honoured 4,800 veterans at Queen's Park Cemetery. Each poppy placed at a headstone was a reminder of the sacrifices made, and the care shown by every student ensures that no stone is left alone. Lest we forget.

In 2024, South Shore District Girl Guides gathered at Brookside Cemetery to honour 129 veterans. They painted poppy stones and placed them on each headstone. Thank you to the youth and families for their dedication to remembrance.

In 2024, No Stone Left Alone held 327 ceremonies across 217 communities, with 13,469 students honouring 123,687 veterans. Thank you to all participants in Canada and abroad, from Vancouver to Halifax and even international locations. Together, we ensure no stone is left alone.

Every year, students place poppies on veterans’ headstones, connecting them with stories of courage and sacrifice. By educating and inspiring youth, we honour Canada’s military and ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

Eighty years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners of the German Nazi camp #Auschwitz, including some 700 children, were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet Army. 1,689 days of murder, pain, suffering, and humiliation were over. Today, we all remember. We must keep remembering.

Today, on Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, we honour the memory of the six million Jewish people and millions of others who were murdered during the Holocaust. We will remember. Image: auschwitz.org
