Had a great time in Pella tonight at the CIDL debate meet, which (of course) included a stop at Jaarsma Bakery for our annual pic and to load up on some amazing Dutch treats!

The National Speech & Debate Association announced the winners of the 2022-23 Speaking & Service Award, recognizing students who've reached the max number of service points in the Honor Society. From more than 140,000 members, fewer than 140 students received this recognition.

Novice PF team Sylas & Madi take first place (in Novice) and Varsity PF team Sam & Carson place 3rd in Varsity at the Dumont-Hampton Bulldog Rumble today. Great job, Warriors! Norwalk Activities

NHS Debate had a great day at the Johnston Dragon Invitational on Saturday. Briela & Emma tied for 3rd and Carson Guzman & Sam finished as quarterfinalists in Varsity Public Forum. Three debaters finished in the Top 10 speakers: Carson Tyner (4th), Emma (5th), and Briela (10th).

Late post: CONGRATULATIONS to NHS Congress debaters at IHSSA State Debate this past weekend! Jadyn (A House), Madi (B House), and Sylas (C House) all received an Excellent Senator Medal of Excellence! Sylas also finished in the Top 3 of C House. Way to go!

NHS Debate alums & supporters: After 16 years, Coach Sutherland has retired/resigned as the NHS Debate Coach. As of this time the position remains open and there’s a team of experienced and talented debaters waiting for a new coach to step up and carry on leading them.
