Some very rare Victorian ‘czapkas’ have come up on the Saleroom. The skull and bones of the 17th Lancers - “the death or glory boys” - is probably the most well known, but the black and white plumage of the 9th Lancers would look good on the Gallowgate End the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-…

Haaland missed out on three consecutive league hat-tricks this afternoon, but Dixie Dean did it for Everton in their title-winning campaign of 1927-8, as did Jack Balmer for Liverpool in 1946-7 - who also won the league that season.

Named after a Tyne collier that brought sea coal down from Newcastle to London and would berth next to the pub. It was on those coal boats that Captain Cook literally learned the ropes as a young seaman.
