You never know when you might run into a giant! Earlier this week Timber staff stumbled across this cedar tree that was 45 ft in circumference & almost 15 ft in diameter! The Penninsula’s climate & geography nurture forests of ancient, massive trees, some up to 1,000 years old.

Have you seen any fawns lately? Fawns are usually born in May or June and typically lose their spots after the summer. If you find a fawn remember to leave it be and give it plenty of space. Mom will return. Photo courtesy of Dennis Church/CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 flic.kr/p/2noC6B5

About 75% of all flowering plant species need animal pollinators for reproduction. As a result, pollinators contribute to ecosystem health and a sustainable food supply. Celebrate them this #pollinatorweek!

After a devastating wildfire, the U.S. Forest Service will sometimes send in Burned Area Emergency Response ("BAER") to assess damage and prevent further harm to our natural habitats. Affected lands can take years to recover. Let's try to take some work off of their plates.

Between 7/11 - 7/15 FS Road 2480 will close from MP 5.1 (just after the junction with FSR 2401) to MP 5.4 for worker safety. Those hoping to hike Elk Lake and Jefferson Lake will need to use the 24 road network (Jorsted to 2480 to 2401) instead of FS-25 (Hamma Hamma Corridor).

Packing out your trash is a simple way to help keep the forest clean & safe. In locations that offer trash receptacles, if the receptacle is full respect that limit and DO NOT add on. Trash left outside of receptacles will get spread around by animals creating a larger mess.
