If you're unable to create a majestic monolith with basic programming tools like encapsulation and namespaces, you don't have what it takes to improve upon the situation with a distributed swarm of microservices. Your spaghetti code will just be on five different plates.

Another person asked me today about the future of Elixir I need to admit that it hurts to say that Elixir is going away from its roots with dockerization, microservices, es, cqrs, and stateless in general Long-running services are almost forgotten art together with clustering🥲

🎥 How to build an Instagram clone in 20 minutes with LiveView! A lot’s changed since Chris McCord made his fantastic twitter clone video I wanted to showcase some of the latest and greatest features from The Elixir programming language and Phoenix Framework #myelixirstatus youtu.be/4cnmyQJToKM

Love the courage on this PR. Someone standing up and saying "actually, no, I don't enjoy this at all and don't want to use it anymore." Omakase. 🍣

If I plateau at Senior Software Engineer is that okay? I’ve turned down Lead. I don’t want to deal with people more. I’m bad at it. I want to write code. Mentor a bit. What’s wrong with that?

This is the most complete, comprehensive answer to the question “why Elixir?”. Having been in the ecosystem for awhile, it’s easy to forget how much incredible tooling comes built-in or dead simple to integrate compared to other stacks. fly.io/phoenix-files/… #MyElixirStatus

It is exhausting that every time Elixir gets brought up in the wider dev community, all people can talk about is the “lack of types.” If the only thing I could contribute to a discussion was “this isn’t like [thing I’m comfortable with] so I won’t try it,” I just wouldn’t post.

Elixir LiveView makes e2e tests SO fast. Remove the browser but still cover 99% of the logic under test. Here's a synthetic test with 1000 cases running in ~3 seconds. Each is interacting with multiple DOM elements, loading data, and saving a form to the DB. #myelixirstatus

We also migrated off #nextjs to Phoenix Framework (on Fly.io) and have been loving it so far. Speed out of the box, realtime features, operational simplicity, all with no extra services/infra required.

I'm done optimising the new json module for OTP. Encoding is ~15%-2x faster than Jason (up to 3x faster), decoding is is ~30% faster than Jason (up to 2x faster). And I thought Jason was the peak when I started this project 😅 github.com/erlang/otp/pul…

I'm currently developing software outside the software industry. No Scrum. No JIRA. No meetings. No sprints. No microservices. No Clean Architecture. No DDD, TDD or other acronyms. I just build the software. I don't wanna jinx it, but this is therapy for me.

Tired of dealing with Elixir code that people wrote as if they were coding in Java, C#, Go, anything but Elixir. Please, study the language you're working with.

Quando criaram o salário maternidade? O vale refeição? O adicional de insalubridade? O pagamento das horas extras? O descanso semanal remunerado?
