There’s three ways those in power historically deal with embarrassing social unrest

1) concede to demands (impossible, lol)
2) promise vague reforms, delay, distract, create a toothless commission, buy off leaders (liberalism when it functions properly)
3) jackbooted crackdown

To this I'd add dishonesty. Trump's constant lying was a structuring grievance for liberals throughout his presidency, but Biden has for decades been a guy who lies regularly and invents stories out of thin air whenever he sees fit.
