45% of student nurses who were determined to be at risk of attrition agreed or strongly agreed that the academic component of their course was too hard. What does this say about nursing entry requirements? sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

How ready is the patient for weaning? Understanding and measuring respiratory drive and effort. What invasive and non-invasive options are there? Good section explaining P0.1 measurement which we have on our Maquet Servo-U ventilators... journals.lww.com/co-criticalcar…

Sepsis? What is it and what care do we provide? This paper provides a great overview of the current state of the art in sepsis care... onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/em…

Trying to get to work and #Nottingham is absolutely heaving with people. Roads and public transport network is totally gridlocked. I gave up on the bus and walked in with a herd of drunken football fans.

I've been coming and going through #Nottingham city for many years. Every winter time this flock of small birds appear and choose a city centre tree to nest in. In previous years they picked a tree on Angel row - this year it's a tree by the Vic Centre clock tower.

I can definitely say I agree with this... Bedside pictures of patients in their previous baseline status of health promote patient-staff relationships, reduce depersonalisation and reduce the risk of staff burnout. Ruth Pettit tagging you again 🤣 aacnjournals.org/ajcconline/art…

Student nurses in England spend more time on placements than almost all other developed nations - and yet when you qualify you cannot give a paracetamol tablet or flush a cannula without significant additional trust-level training. The whole system needs complete reform...

If there was a time I'd really like to go back to it would be 1996/7. Finish work. Cash in hand. Zero responsibilities. Bit of TFI Friday on the tv. Meet mates at the local. Hop on Merseyrail into Liverpool. Drinking. Dancing. Food. Taxi home. Do it all again the next night.

With my daughter for the final night at Flo Skatepark #Nottingham. This is more than just a skatepark - it's a haven for young people and an amazing community. My daughter has made the best friends here. Gutted about the closure 😢

So let me get this right... Unelected Elon Musk seeks to shape UK politics and Nigel Farage, who focused his entire Brexit campaign on the dangers of unelected bureaucrats interfering with UK sovereignty, is 'very pleased' about it?

I've been researching my family history. I discovered that on one side, my first, second, third and fourth great grandfathers all lived on Grey Eagle Street near Spitalfields market.

There's an epidemic of grubby glass in Nottingham. Shop doors & windows full of greasy marks & fingerprints. When I was a teenage Saturday lad in the butchers shop, if there were any quiet spells the manager would insist on us repeatedly cleaning the glass door and counters.

The best comedy show on TV currently has to be 24 Hours in Police Custody - dimwit wannabe drug dealers incriminating themselves on WhatsApp & Facebook then crying about it in the interview room. Brilliant.

Healthcare 'assistant practitioner' with 'no formal or specific training' conducted vital assessments instead of Registered Nurse - the man was later found dead in his cell. Why don't we value the work of the Registered Nurse? This case is tragic.
