HM Queen Camilla visited our beautiful branch town of Rye today and, although the sun didn't shine, some of our colleagues were present to give her a warm welcome; and Trainee Solicitor, Amanda Myles-Lawrence, even got a handshake!

Later, at Lamb House, once home to novelists Henry James, Rumer Godden and E. F. Benson, Her Majesty joined a Garden Party with organisations in celebration of Rye’s renowned literary history.

The Queen was also shown special items from the House's historic collection of books.

The Queen surprised guests at the opening session of Charleston Festival 2024, named the ‘Power of Reading’. Her Majesty joined Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho is laureating! on stage for a conversation about books they loved as children.

All quite the surprise for schoolchildren who had no idea who was on the star-studded guest list!

This job is always full of surprises but it was a treat today to be at Lamb House to see Timothy West&Hayley Mills read from Benson’s Miss Mapp.The Queen joked she might smuggle a first edition home with her & said the King was getting better “well he would if he behaved himself”
