My own hope (not prediction) for 2023 would be that we learn the impact of engagement projects more squarely focused on civic discourse (e.g. Coloradoan's reimagined opinion section, NoCoDJP, SFNext, Reckon' Bridge Alabama work, etc.). And that we see new ones emerge.

Great to read more on how Coloradoan is reimagining its opinion section as a different kind of public forum — and seeing subscription growth, too. Kudos @ericlarsen_news Rebecca Powell Martin Carcasson NoCoDJP betternews.org/how-a-universi…

My latest essay digging into the new connections between our experiences in deliberative practice (running events for 17 years) and our new project focused on local journalism and working to build a useful online forum.

A nice example of what we would call deliberative journalism - journalism focused on helping us work through tough issues and make better decisions about our shared problems.
