Today at the 11th hour DHSC finally invited us to a meeting to discuss pay. Unfortunately they weren’t serious and in typical smoke and mirrors fashion used this to kick the can down the road. The Secretary of State once again did not turn up.

Remember that @BMA_JuniorDocs were singled out by UK Prime Minister to NOT get the recommended pay rise. The DDRB clearly outlined the potential adverse consequences on doctors’ morale. Guess what, it was right about that! This is the sad consequence to that political choice.

It is, in part, about pay erosion - which is driving highly skilled and experienced doctors away in droves. It is also about staff shortages, overwhelming pressure to fix a mess not of our making, and the moral harm in providing a level of care that it is hard to be proud of.
