In our latest magazine we looked at the Noah’s Pink Balloon Fellowship. It was funded in 2022 by Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund set up by the parents of Noah (pictured) who sadly was diagnosed with Leukaemia and died of an invasive fungal infection, Mucormycosis, in 2020: bit.ly/3MV4zLh
Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund The fellowship is under the supervision of Professor Adilia Warris and Dr Liz Ballou, based at the University of Exeter MRC Centre for Medical Mycology and will research Mucormycosis, a complication that occurs in patients undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia, or in those with a weak immune system.
Yesterday Professor @Adilia76645023 and Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund fellow Alyssa Hudson visited @KewGreenPrep to explore the fascinating world of fungi with the children. The children experimented with yeast, and discovered how Alyssa combines working as a doctor and a scientist!
Yes, an amazing day, 2nd year running and even better! Thanks again to the team MRC Centre for Medical Mycology for sharing their expertise, and explaining how the money from our sponsor @KewGreenPrep gets spent.
Well done @[email protected], delighted that more funding into researching mucormycosis has been awarded.
What a week! It has been a huge pleasure to present our @balloulab work on diagnosing mucormycosis at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology biennial review and #bsmm2023. Thank you Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund for your support and inspiration!
From all of us, a big THANK YOU to everyone especially our generous donors, for making Noah’s Pink Balloon Fellowship a reality. Well done again Alyssa Hudson. #IDTwitter #mycology #mucormycosis #legacy #stemeducation

The image is stunning, the disease deadly! Proud that the work of Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund Fellowship has helped develop diagnostic understanding of the fungi that cause mucormycosis.
Powerful microscopic imagery depicting a deadly disease. So special that our Fellow's work is part of this exhibition University of Exeter featuring #research from world leading scientists and clinicians MRC Centre for Medical Mycology
