Highway 17 closed in both directions from 6th Ave S to 2nd Ave South due to a motor vehicle accident. Avoid area and use alternate routes.

Fire Update: Fire contained time just Advanced Auto Parts Building. No damage to exposure building. All active fire extinguished. Crews continue to work aerial streams and will be on scene for extended time. Hwy 17 still closed all directions in area.

All Lanes of Hwy 17 now reopen. Truck 1 will be remaining on scene for next few hours. All other units and mutual aid companies have been cleared.

North Myrtle Beach welcomed a 2020 Pierce Arrow XT 1500GPM pump fire engine today. The new engine will be housed at the Windy Hill Fire Station. The new fire engine replaces a 2000 KME that reached its frontline service capacity. The old fire engine becomes a reserve engine.

We are seeing flash flooding along several of our roads this morning with these storms rolling in. Areas of Crescent Beach and Windy Hill have already recorded over 2.5 inches of rain. Use caution out on the roads and do not attempt to drive through standing water.
