Alongside Scope, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and many more, we've written to the Chancellor warning against cuts to disability support. Most people who are forced to visit our food banks are disabled and proposed cuts risk pushing even more people into hardship. We can’t let this happen. Click

PIP assessments are one of the most horrific and dehumanising things you could go through. All for them to basically sit there saying “so you’re disabled are you? I don’t think you’re disabled. Prove to me you are disabled”. #bbcqt #DisabilityBenefits

Hey, @keir_starmer, have you seen the news? ❗ 77% of people claiming Universal Credit and disability benefits have gone without essentials in the last 6 months. Cutting disability support will have further devastating impacts on people and risk pushing even more to food

Nine charities, including Scope, Sense, Mencap and Mind, say they are “deeply troubled” by the proposals. They tell Kendall in a letter: “We cannot condone a plan that risks condemning more disabled people to a life of poverty” thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

Liz Kendall just compared Labours plans to get more people with disabilities into work with how they previously helped get more women into work. The answer then was affordable childcare. You can't pay someone to look after your illness or disability while you go out to work.

The cost of winter fuel payments is £3bn a year. The profits of the big four gas supply giants in 2023 were £65bn. Gosh, what a difficult circle to square.

Today, I joined a huge lobby of Parliament, led by disabled people, against the proposed cuts to disability support. I made clear once again: these cuts are cruel and unjustifiable and must be dropped. If the Government refuses to drop them, I will vote against them.

Marcus Rashford continues to prove he's a really good guy. A fan bumped into him and told him her disabled cousin is a huge fan of his. He offered to visit the cousin and turned up an hour later. This amazingly gesture is incredibly heartwarming ❤️ 📹 threesixtytv_ on Instagram

The first duty of every Labour Government is to support the most vulnerable. Our welfare system is meant to be a safety net - there for all of us when we need it. I'll fight tooth and nail for our welfare state. Solidarity with disabled people against cuts.

It is very hard to understand how Starmer and the Labour Party have "got it so wrong". They get into power, after 14 long years...and immediately start bringing in polices detrimental to large groups of the very people who voted for them. How can they have been so stupid?

Disability benefits cuts would, unequivocally, kill a lot of disabled people. Some would die by suicide. Others through the slow violence of stress, malnutrition, untreated pain. It’s that simple. It really is. Vote against #DisabilityBenefits cuts.

There are now up to 170 Labour MPs willing to rebel against Labour's cruel and callous welfare cuts. I think the Conservatives will also vote against them. I've seen a number of Tory MPs openly oppose them.

During an assessment I was mocked for the ‘noises’ I made while hyperventilating, having a panic attack after degrading & personal questions. She then cancelled the assessment stating I was “uncooperative”. Josh MacAlister MP the reforms needed are not cuts. #TakingThePIP

It is true that most people who claim PIP are unable to work. But that's because to be eligible for PIP you need to have significant health conditions that need a lot of care & support. So it's predictable most won't be able to work. But its still not an out-of-work benefit.

You can't wash or dress yourself but Govt want you to lose financial help which will mean losing the carers allowance for your carer- what happens then? The person sits in their own mess until the authorities send a carer which will cost 10 times more than was taken away.
