It is the Birthday of Mary Shelley (1797), author of Frankenstein. All of us who toil in the macabre fields of horror owe her a great debt. Her Modern Prometheus set fire to our imaginations and continues to inform and inspire our dark dreams.

Bought a box of Kellogg's Wednesday cereal. The box is great. The cereal is terrible. It was like eating a spoonful of unsweetened baking cocoa, terribly bitter.

Classic Horror Films My understanding is that this is a unused test makeup by Bud Westmore for the 1948 film Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. The photos were sold in a lot of behind the scenes shots. One of these test Wolfman pics had the initial title Brain of Frankenstein written on the back.

Classic Horror Films Emil LaVigne application of foam pieces after Jack Pierce was fired. Bud Westmore supervised the creation to speed up the process for Lon Chaney Jr. for Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein 1948. One of the test makeup shots is in this set.

Classic Horror Films Bill Fleck identifies Jack Kevan appling the Frankenstein makeup to Lon Chaney's son, Lon Ralph. Emil LaVigne puts Wolfman makeup on Lon Chaney Jr. with Lon's other son Ron Chaney in the Dracula costume. It is possible the test Wolfman makeup was done on someone besides LonChaney

Classic Horror Films Here is Jack Pierce applying the Wolfman makeup for various films (Wolfman, Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula) on Lon Chaney Jr. prior to Jack being let go by Universal. Also, a test makeup dummy with the Wolfman makeup.
