Calling all American Chemical Society Fall 2024 attendees! Check out NIST by Booth 608 on August 18 –22 to learn about job openings, internships, fellowships and more. #ACSFall2024
.National Institute of Standards and Technology pioneered earth-bound atomic clocks, the basis for GPS, validating stock trades, and more. Now NIST has proposed a new lunar time zone to account for the difference in time on the moon. While small, those microseconds need to be accounted for in future space navigation.
2/2 Can an Electron Explain the Origin of the Universe? Don’t miss this great video featuring National Institute of Standards and Technology Nobel Laureate Eric Cornell and postdocs that explains why this work is so important. youtube.com/watch?v=SqKcYW…
Measurements objectively show the state of our environment, the rate of change, and the effectiveness of mitigation efforts. Learn about tools from National Institute of Standards and Technology and share your needs for quantifying ecosystems at this Environmental Measurement Workshop in Sept. nist.gov/news-events/ev…
I get so much inspiration from talking with students about the transformative power of education and training. At Chemeketa Community College in Oregon, I joined a STEM workforce roundtable with HACU, UnidosUS, and Andrea Salinas, Suzanne Bonamici and Nanette D. Barragán.
.Cheryl C. Kagan and Senator Brian Feldman visited National Institute of Standards and Technology today to learn about our work to detect illicit drugs, test robot performance, and understand fire. Thousands of MD citizens help ensure our success. In 2015, federal civilian employees contributed 9.9% to the state’s GDP.
We may be a small agency, but our impacts are mighty. Studies show that on National Institute of Standards and Technology’s main campuses in MD and CO, operations alone generated $2.7 billion in national economic activity and 17,064 jobs. $1 of funding for NIST results in $9 in economic output.
Join me at the National Institute of Standards and Technology Standards Forum on Sept. 11, 2024 to join our commitment to advance global standardization as a strategic priority, particularly for critical and emerging tech. Help preserve and grow our transparent, consensus-based standards process. nist.gov/news-events/ev…
Congratulations to National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Long Phan, Marc Levitan, and the Tornado Wind Loads Team for their well-deserved #Sammies2024 recognition. New tornado-resistant building codes will protect people and property from dangerous storms.
Living cells and cells systems are dynamic, so harder to measure than most materials. National Institute of Standards and Technology researchers have developed a new method to image biomolecules inside cells. The method is nondestructive, label-free, and much more accessible than a synchrotron. nist.gov/news-events/ne…
While metric didn’t fully take, National Institute of Standards and Technology backs America’s part in a global system of measurements and supports the quality and safety of critical products and services. Learn more from our chief metrologist. (H/T: Nate Bargatze’s Washington skit on Saturday Night Live - SNL) nist.gov/blogs/taking-m…
Congrats to National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Alexey Gorshkov, named a finalist for the 2024 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists for advancing the design of large interacting quantum systems through research at the intersection of quantum physics and information science. blavatnikawards.org/news/items/202…
AI can make manufacturing more efficient and precise. But if you don’t trust AI, you won’t use it. Join me and the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Innovation Lab to discuss measurement and standards for AI. Help inform how we enable trust to unleash innovation. nist.gov/news-events/ev…
.U.S. Commerce Dept. Deputy Secretary Don Graves with reps of Front Range companies & schools. EDA awarded CO’s Elevate Quantum with $40.5M as a designated Tech Hub, unlocking $1.84B in state & private investment. National Institute of Standards and Technology has been central to building the quantum research ecosystem of the Mt. West.
.Brian Babin and I discussed National Institute of Standards and Technology and aerospace. The tiny tolerances of space-bound vehicles and satellites need our measurement science, reference materials and data, and calibrations of instruments for remote sensing and communications, and manufacturing and operations.
.National Institute of Standards and Technology and CHIPS are proud to support 17 small businesses as they scale innovations to the marketplace and boost the U.S. economy. We are happy to support entrepreneurs with great ideas as they build the next great American company. nist.gov/news-events/ne…
