I'm thrilled to share the latest review of my book, "The Last Plantation." Michael Schaffer (POLITICO) highlights how my sociological approach sheds new light on Congress, revealing the profound and far-reaching impacts of racism and inequality. politico.com/news/magazine/…

Yesterday, Chair Judy Chu joined newly exonerated Professor Franklin Tao, a victim of the now-defunct China Initiative, as he delivered a heartfelt account of his wrongful conviction. CAPAC will continue to monitor & oppose xenophobic efforts against our communities.

CAPAC is excited to announce Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove as a new Associate Member. She represents a vibrant, diverse AANHPI community in Los Angeles! This brings the total membership of the Caucus to 80 Members of the U.S. House and Senate – the most in CAPAC history!

Last night a Republican delegate from NJ accused me of wearing a North Korea flag on my tie and questioned my allegiance to America. This is a disgusting attack and I urge NJ Republican leaders including Bob Hugin and Curtis Bashaw to condemn this xenophobia. THREAD

I am so thankful to all those who continue to support our campaign as we count the remaining votes in #CA45. Over 10,000 lawfully cast ballots are outstanding, and we owe it to every Californian to ensure their voice is heard. 🧵 (1/4)

I learned Senate floor desks have drawers where every Senator who used that desk carves their name. I just pulled out my drawer. 1 name jumped out. INOUYE. WWII Medal of Honor. Senator for ~ 50 yrs. AAPI trailblazer. I cannot believe I get to sit at the desk of a hero of mine.

When I was first sworn in twelve years ago, I was the sole Indian American Member of Congress and only the third in U.S. history. Now, our coalition is six strong! I am excited to welcome even more Indian Americans to the halls of Congress in the years to come!

You know what? Fuck this. These people are ghouls. Diversity is good for business. It strengthens our workforce. It makes us safer. More diversity in skills & backgrounds makes us SAFER. Let’s call this what this is. Racist & sexist fear mongering. And it’s SHAMEFUL.

Korematsu was a terrible decision that upheld the internment of 120K+ Japanese Americans and was, famously, followed by Roosevelt. It took SCOTUS 74 years to renounce it. Republicans invoking Korematsu to say court orders don't need to be followed is ridiculous and offensive.

Today is the 31st anniversary of the founding of both APAICS and CAPAC by Secretary Norman Y. Mineta and former Delegate Robert Underwood. Together, we are building a robust pipeline of AA & NH/PI leaders to pursue public service at all levels of government.
