As independent media, a bedrock of democracies, are under pressure around the world, SDC has co-funded and partnered with International Fund for Public Interest Media. The Fund will become an effective instrument for strengthening public interest media to work for democracy.

In our first year, we raised $50m, grants now being given to independent news groups in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. In a ceremony at #ParisPeaceForum2023 earlier today, the Governments of Ghana, Moldova, and France affirmed their support for the International Fund by approving its Statutes and formally appointing its Board of Directors.
