Cannot wait for NHSE to catalogue every single instance of harm and near miss on a normal day and present that to the government to get more funding.

BMA junior doctor members in England have voted by over 97% in favour of extending our mandate for industrial action, and to provide us with a mandate for action short of strike (ASOS). A huge thank you to all of those who voted. Read the full results 👇 bma.org.uk/juniorspay

An analysis of doctors’ pay in England confirms the real terms value of their salaries has declined by a quarter in the 15 years since their pay was frozen. Combined with increases in the cost of living, doctors' purchasing power has been severely hit 🔗 bit.ly/3IQXnwj

I’m simply horrified to see NHS England now literally breaking the law in how it misrepresents physician associates & other allied health professional - who are NOT doctors - to the public. These posters are from the Bradford District & Craven Health & Care Partnership. 1/n

Doctors received offers for Radiology training posts at around 3-4pm. They were able to accept these offers on Oriel and received confirmation of acceptance. Offers then began to disappear on Oriel. At 6:30pm they received this email. Simply unacceptable.

Clare Gerada et al didn’t pay tuition fees to attend medical school, didn’t have >£50k student debt, nor ever faced the prospect of unemployment. Context is everything.

The government 10 yr NHS plan is diabolical. They want to move away from “train to role”, i.e. Requiring a medical degree to work as a doctor! & instead focus of allowing non-doctors to “train to task” PATIENTS CANNOT BE BROKEN DOWN INTO “TASKS TO BE COMPLETED”! 1/2

Imagine going through your whole career, reaping its benefits, then condemning those who come after you, despite the fact they face far worse pay, conditions and job prospects. This generation of doctors is standing up and fighting for our profession. Long may it continue. FPR.

Ask a resident doctor what their commute is. Ask if they chose the town they live in. Ask how many friends’ weddings they have missed. Ask if they have a hobby. Ask if they have had to delay starting a family because of exams or training. They sacrifice *relentlessly*.

Will wait to see the final report, but preliminary takes are hugely concerning. #lengreview seems to have green-lighted a parallel track of PAs effectively working as doctors with only a fraction of the training

There will be a time when an advanced physician assistant will be on Band 9, earning the same as a medical consultant, but without going to medical school. What is happening?!

Hundreds to thousands of UK-trained doctors will be unemployed in a matter of weeks as their contracts end this August. Why are we training doctors to leave them jobless? My thanks to The Telegraph for helping me raise this issue. telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness…

"The Leng Review appears to have been conducted thoroughly and even-handedly, and we welcome its recommendations on patient safety in particular." The recommendations should be implemented with the highest priority, say Trisha Greenhalgh and Martin McKee bmj.com/content/390/bm…

When as a patient you are concerned that your care is being compromised by resident doctors strike action (only 3 days in the working week for this whole year) Next time you can't see a doctor consider this - half of all doctors that are newly qualified will be unemployed next
