I'll never understand how having high expectations of behaviour is criticised so heavily by some. Set, model and enforce high standards of behaviour for your students and watch them rise up to meet them. They do and they will. Every time.

I wish everyone in a position of authority in schools knew this...

Teachers: PLEASE. Play this speech to your students. You can frame it as a ‘debate’ or analyse rhetoric or whatever but the kids *need* to hear these words. There is time in the school day for this. No excuses. It’s essential.

Teach Like A Champion is about social justice. It is every student's right, especially those not born to privilege, to be in classrooms that socialise scholarship and protect and create the optimal conditions for achievement. Equity starts with achievement.

Accurate...people will eventually vote with their feet in schools like this, leaving leaders baffled over a mass exodus. Always ironic when they are unwilling to question if they are in fact the problem.

Sometimes the best measure of how good a job you are doing is how the people beneath you feel under your leadership and guidance. Throughout my teaching career I have had many lovely student messages. These have to be the loveliest 😊 #teaching #teacher #teacherlife
