🧵Female athletes please read: 1. The menstrual cycle does NOT have a dropsies phase 2. There is no high-quality evidence to say that your reaction time will be decreased in Phase 1 (when oestrogen and progesterone are low) & 4 (when oestrogen and progesterone are high)

Kirsty Sale (@elliottsale) 's Twitter Profile Photo

3. If you experience adverse symptoms in phase 1 or 4 these symptoms might affect you but we can help alleviate these - this is an individual response 4. Not all sportswomen are affected by their menstrual cycle 5. There is no evidence to support universal phase-based responses

Kirsty Sale (@elliottsale) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Female athletes please do not fear any phase of your menstrual cycle. World records, PBs, world cup finals, etc. have been won by women across all days of the menstrual cycle We can help with cycle-related symptoms but otherwise there is no blueprint for performance across the MC

In fact, CRF outperforms many isolated blood biomarkers as risk indicators for numerous chronic diseases, most notably CVD. "CRF is a potentially stronger predictor of mortality than established risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol, and T2D

I am returning to clinical medicine ☺️ (While everyone else seems to be leaving…) I’m so grateful and excited! But I’m also apprehensive 😟 Imposter syndrome. If anyone has returned and has any advice, I’m all ears 👂 Never give up on your dreams 🏆

Two weeks of being back in ED and loving it 😍 So grateful to work in such a great department and hospital ❤️ While so many have become disenchanted with medicine, taking time out to do my PhD turned out to be a blessing in so many ways.

Two days spent here getting certified to provide Immediate Care in Rugby ✅ Fantastic course, brilliant faculty/educators 🤩 A lot more prepared to provide pitch side care now but also applies to trauma in general

So he technically failed a HIA but passed his SCAT 6. He will now follow NRL concussion protocols and be looked after tonight and reviewed in 48 hours. Will miss minimum 11 days. Hope that clears up any confusion that he ‘passed’ a HIA.
