Think this is my first "Honoured to be..." tweet, but... *circumstances*. This week I took up the @RCSNews Chair of Military and Trauma Surgery as Head of the Academic Dept of Military Surgery at Royal Centre for Defence Medicine ๐ฆ๐ 1/x

The department has a very distinguished pedigree, and has been *brilliantly* led in recent times by Prof mark midwinter , Prof Rory Rickard and, most recently Prof Linda Orr - *the* NIHL research guru! Never has UK Military Surgical Research been in finer shape.

mark midwinter Very much looking forward to working with fellow military and clinical surgical academics, collaborating with my Def Prof and DCA colleagues, and seeking new opportunities to bring the fruits of surgical research to our service people.

I will still be posting from nigel tai concerning Barts Health trauma surgery and CommsC4TS updates. Many thanks to the amazing colleagues at RLH and 16 Medical Regiment 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team and JHubMED_Defence for bringing me this far. End/x

10-years ago in JTACS we published this analysis of UK combat casualty outcomes over a decade of combat operations. Marked improvements in survival demonstrated - will we maintain this level or care, or are we forgetting these lessons learned (aka the "Walker Dip")? Matthew Martin, MD, FACS, McRIB

This is a super opportunity to work on an exciting trial evaluating the impact of AI decision support in the emergency setting. Based in London - working with nigel tai Zane Perkins gsmaclennan and myself.

Congratulations Jared Wohlgemut on passing your PhD viva! Strong work on decision support systems in Major Trauma CommsC4TS Barts and The London, Queen Mary #AI Zane Perkins William Marsh Karim Brohi
