That very in your face "please please subscribe to premium we swear it's worth it" ad that keeps popping up doesn't smell of desperation *at all*

Turns out I'll be speaking at Scala Days after all - and what's more, I'll be sharing the stage with Martin, which is both exhilarating and terrifying: scaladays.org/editions/2025/…

Right, trip to Lausanne for Scala Days sorted. I’ll get there sunday evening and have nothing planned monday or tuesday, so if anyone would like to hang out, let me know!

I'm looking for an example of an LLM (or any sort of machine learning project) making some very bad and hopefully entertaining decisions because of poor data quality in its training set. Does anybody know of one?

Here’s the companion article for my talk on capture checking at Scala Days: nrinaudo.github.io/articles/captu… In hindsight, yeah, that was never going to fit 40 minutes…

I just published an article on encoding effects as capabilities, because it's both surprisingly simple and fun: nrinaudo.github.io/articles/capab…

Nicolas Rinaudo Hey, cool blog post! This is very similar to the ideas underlying our language Effekt. Funnily, we also have a paper titled "Effects as Capabilities" :) dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/34… We even sometimes use a very similar encoding in our compiler which is implemented in Scala.
