Entangled Threads: Iridescent Fusions⁠ This piece is inspired by #RhodesScholar lillian.usadi 's research on bubbles at the Physical Acoustics Lab at Oxford, as well as her experience a US naval officer, and her background growing up in a mixed family in New Jersey.

This artwork is informed by Risanga.abeygunasekara efforts to create accessible educational pathways and more inclusive communities. Risanga has made incredible efforts to bring awareness to disability within Kandy, Sri Lanka and South Asia more broadly.

Risanga facilitated a collaborative partnership with the Wattegama Vocational Training Institute (VTI). Whilst all the students have a form of disability, Risanga stresses that this should not be a reason to undervalue their skill and potential.

Entangled Threads: We Live For Each Other “We Live for Each Other” encapsulates the philosophy that drives Elizabeth Tuck’s work and practice. This artwork highlights the importance of difference within community in creating more equitable societal structures

Tartan has been exported around the world, in the clothing of enslaved people, the uniforms of enforced missionary schools, or in the British East India Company’s monopoly in Madras. This artwork draws attention to the colonial connection of tartan.

The message of We Live For Each Other is reflected in the choice of medium in which the interlacing knitted yarn represents the connecting strands which bind people together. Beyond the utilitarian, knitting is a social tradition which is deeply entrenched within communities.

Tapestry: Pristine. This depicts Antarctic ice, which is studied by researchers to understand climate change and the potentially irreversible damage which directly contributes to rising sea levels.

Entangled Threads: Rough Terrain As a Rhodes scholar, Jessy Phillips studied penguin foraging behaviour in Antarctica. During this time, she became fascinated by the landscape. This artwork reflects Jessy’s passion for the Antarctic scenery.
