Jack Hawkins Having attended an Officer Cadet Training Unit, he was commissioned into the Royal Welch Fusiliers, British Army, as a second lieutenant on 8 March 1941.[8] On 22 January 1944, he transferred to the Expeditionary Force Institutes in the rank of lieutenant.
