Today's numbers are a sombre reminder of the cost of fighting high inflation. GDP barely grew in Q423, and per capita growth has declined for 3 consecutive quarters. Expect further labour market reverberations through 2024.

Aaand...everyone breathes a sigh of relief as RBA leaves rates on hold, reading the softer tea leaves. Still can't call time on tighter policy, but it's looking a whole lot more likely that end-2024 will see lower rates rather than higher ones.
