Terry Simpson Steven D Wexner MD, PhD Vanessa Tanya FIT has diagnostic accuracy equivalent or better than colonoscopy for CRC. No morbidity, no time off work, no pain and it's cheap. There may be no need for colonoscopy in pts who are low risk, or asymptomatic.

FIT can facilitate early #bowelcancer diagnosis, and is recommended by NICE DG30. BJHM have published an analysis by Muti Abulafi and myself on FIT in low risk patients and DG30. More on this to come soon from NICE FIT Study Team. #colorectalresearch magonlinelibrary.com/doi/abs/10.129…

I'm having a run of GP referrals of symptomatic patients having FIT testing. What is the point of screening a symptomatic patient who clearly needs investigations? Isnt it a waste of a test? BSG @ACPGBI Royal College of General Practitioners

Nick BSG @ACPGBI Royal College of General Practitioners Without the results of NICE FIT Study Team study we don’t understand the distribution of FIT in our symptomatic population. I would hope to use FIT to stratify risk and organise appropriately timed investigations in the future for these patients #colorectalresearch

The NICE FIT study was awarded the BJS Prize by @ACPGBI yesterday. This study was only successful because of a huge collaboration of researchers, and the generosity of our patients. Please retweet and tag (with pictures) any of the people that made this study a sucess.
