Rachel Maclean has just solved the cost of living crisis - turns out all you need to do is get a better paid job and work more hours. For example, you could become and MP and claim £218,000 in expenses on top of your £80k salary like she did last year.

Any doctor not in favour of fighting for a pay increase, I hope you enjoy effectively working a month for free this year. This cannot continue - we need #payrestoration

It’s reported that the government is offering nurses a one off payment of 6% and a 5% pay rise. But inflation has been 10% and prices will not fall again - so this offer leaves nurses 5% worse off for good. They’d be mad to accept this offer: and it’s insulting to offer it.

Re Junior Doctor strikes, the 'if you don't like it, get another job / go elsewhere' crowd need to rapidly learn that doctors are doing exactly that. It's (partly) why you struggle to see a GP, or it takes months to see a specialist. We simply do not have enough of them.

A reminder: the birth dose of vitamin K is NOT a vaccine but is still critical to give within the first 6 hours following birth. Here is why refusing this intervention is a really bad idea 🧵

And worth adding that this is where the value of permanent continuous staff comes from (see PAs, CNS, SAS doctors etc) - but we have to acknowledge that our own medical education system *generates* this problem. Means we also have a duty to support rotating trainees better.
