Today is my first day back at work since seeing Oasis at Wembley on Friday. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that a 3-decade dream came true.

This was an incredible era to cover. I still can't believe the beginning of my journalistic career started during the Huskies' upswing in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Samuel Basallo, the Orioles’ 21-year-old slugging sensation, with a walk-off home run to beat the Dodgers. Orioles win 2-1. This kid is different.

There's no reason why Northern Illinois football should be mediocre. Not one. This team went to the Orange Bowl a decade ago and had a Heisman candidate at QB. How does this program keep failing to recruit off that success and keep losing games it should win?

And how is this program not picking up donors to help build it into something bigger? I know I haven't been around this program for a decade after spending 1998-2016 covering/designing the Huskies but this is rather confusing.

My biggest beef with the NIU recruiting is at quarterback. How do you have two of the best QBs in program history and then fail to recruit someone to keep that going? It's been 12 years now and there hasn't been one QB that's half as talented as Lynch or Harnish. Not one.
