A reminder that it’s rape even if he’s your favourite athlete. It’s rape even if he’s a famous celebrity. It’s rape even if he’s talented. It’s rape even if you found him inspirational. Stop excusing the actions of abusive men just because you admire them.

Support for survivors is critical: following the verdict, calls to rape helplines surged by 150%. This shows the enormous impact of public cases and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable. We must do better, and ensure survivors can access the support they need.

With a lot of discussion today about getting Britain working again, here’s an important reminder.
