The religious ego is the hardest to kill, because it believes that God owes it for how "right" it is.

The ego never looks for evidence to believe, but for evidence not to believe. Asking for a sign is actually a form of pride: "If you do what I say, then I will accept you."

Killing the Ego: The ego wants to say, “I understood who Jesus is because I read a lot.” The Genius Perspective: “I understood who Jesus is because the Father opened my eyes.” This attitude keeps you humble, but makes you incredibly strong (a rock).

Peter tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross out of love, but a selfish love that feared loss. Jesus corrected him to show him that without the death of the Ego there is no resurrection of the Spirit.

Most people confuse “self” with “Ego.” In reality, the Ego is just a set of old, tight clothes that your soul wears.

Killing the Ego is not a single event, but a series of daily micro-decisions in which you choose Love over your personal Righteousness.
