New Ways is proud to announce that it will be hosting this year’s World Humanitarian Day in Banadir on August 19. The theme for this year is #ActForHumanity shifting from awareness to accountability and reinforcing the call for protection, enforcement of IHL, and political will.

During immunization awareness weeks, New Ways team strolls through neighborhoods to speak to locals about the vaccination campaigns. Speaking to the community about pressing issues is a culturally more convenient process to get vaccination rolling.

This week, we were joined by Ministry of Health- Somalia and UNICEF Somalia during mosquito nets distribution campaign in Baidoa. Mosquito nets are a defensive line against malaria during mosquito season. New Ways is in final stages of providing LLNs across Southwest State in Somalia.

Our LLNs project is nearing its end. LLNs is a mosquito nets distribution campaign across many districts in southern Somalia. In every day of distribution, New Ways teams plan, coordinate, and collaborate with each other on distributing nets to populations at risk of malaria.

The past few months have been eventful for the New Ways team on the ground. From community engagement sessions to taking care of children with malnutrition, to distributing mosquito nets to population at risk of malaria, each NW staff in the field has shown dedication to service.

Today marks the first day of school for the new 2025/6 academic year in Galmudug State. Today, NWO visited Gurmad Primary School in Dhusomareeb as students return to school. NW offers cash incentives, teacher PDs and learning materials to 51 JRP beneficiary schools in Galmudug.

Today in New Ways office, Baidoa, we received a joint delegation from UNICEF’s Global Fund led by Dr. Yousuf Babaya, UNICEF Somalia’s Program Health Systems Strengthening Specialist. During the visit, we discussed malaria prevention strategies and area of matual collaborations.
