The Tidy Towns in conjunction with Longford Co Co are building a beautiful new fountain in the village. Funding will come from the Village Renewal Scheme for villages that have lost so much over the last 20 years. It will be on a site located opposite the church and The Local.

In the election literature that was handed out by one of the Candidates for the forthcoming election, it was stated Newtowncashel Tidy Towns got €87,600 from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for a fountain with landscaping and seating. The correct amount was €29,300
