Happy #FossilFriday and Nevada Paleontological Awareness Month! 20,000 years ago in the N end of Las Vegas springs bubbled to the surface, serving as water sources for herds of camel, bison, & mammoth. Pic: tibia (shin bone) to a bison (L), & (R) a camel metapodial (foot bone)!
Happy #FossilFriday ! Continuing April Nevada Paleontological Awareness Month. This is the trilobite Nevadia sp., from the Poleta Formation of Esmeralda County, Nevada. This specimen is roughly 520 million years old. Trilobites are an extinct group of bottom-dwelling arthropods.

#WorldFrogDay ! Nevada's first known frog is Eorubeta nevadensis. 1st found in drill cores from Railroad Valley. These frogs are found in rocks which span the end Cretaceous extinction and may be the first documented survivor of the meteor impact.
