I can only stress how much fun this fruitful collaboration was and still is. Thank you Shreejoy Tripathy and Derek Howard! Looking forward to hearing your comments #paincommunity #patchseq #ionchannel #pain #itch #microneurography #transcriptomics

Excited to share our single-cell study on aging mouse brain published in Nature today! We found an aging hotspot in specific hypothalamic cell types involved in energy homeostasis, which show both decreased neuronal function and increased immune responses. doi.org/10.1038/s41586…

that moment where you're asked to review a paper that you read in preprint form in a journal club almost 2 years ago but you don't remember anything about the paper. =\

Just had a meeting with a collaborator with an awesome NIMH program officer (PO) who provided super useful feedback on our grant. Why doesn't this exist in Canada within the CIHR system?

The results for schizophrenia were fascinating. The top results included cell types previously thought to contribute to schizophrenia (somatostatin and parvalbumin interneurons). Further, striatal neurons with high expression of the D2 dopamine receptor gene were also associated.

imo having a good success rate on grant applications (esp on 1st or 2nd submissions) is fairly correlated with getting good internal feedback on proposal drafts from colleagues / POs.

Liisa, thanks for being this up. It is not efficient to have the verification code last for one use. As mentioned πŸ‘‡πŸ». Yesterday's tally for verification codes was 8. Please consider the end user experience when implementing change to sites. CIHR

Devastating news from the NIH that will see a massive shrinkage of biomedical research in the US. If unchanged will shrink the number of Universities that meaningfully carry our research to those that can backfill unsupported research costs with philanthropy. The Canadian model.

The NIH website, and associated sites, are officially offline. Crucial bioinformatics tools like BLAST, ffq, gget depend on these services. This is completely unacceptable. #methodsmatter
