Life has halted for many. Take advantage of this standstill and... stand...still in the moment, breathe, take it in, cherish, pay attention to what’s around you, value what you are taking in through your senses...and just be.

I have to say that I’m proud of our healthcare system that they are finally giving notice to the extreme importance of mental health. It’s sad it took a pandemic to finally get global recognition, because in some states mental health treatment is low on the Todem pole.

Mental health and treatment for it is just as important as medical treatment. It took a pandemic for the world to give it the recognition it deserved. Now let’s focus on our frontline workers for trauma treatment and those at home for mood management please.

I received this on my daily update texts from the IL GOV: If experiencing mental health issues related to COVID-19? Text "TALK" or "HABLAR" to 552020 to receive support from a counselor in your local community. Finally the government wants to support mental health!

Unfortunately many are undertrained on what dementia is and how to care for those who have it. Nurses, CNAs, docs, therapists...Most professionals learn about dementia AFTER school. Why? It should be a part of required curriculum in any schooling related to healthcare.

Let’s squash a myth here. In the second episode of the last season of This Is Us, the mother was told she has “plaques forming in my brain…and no brain games…will help”. Ummm, not true. It’s never too late to exercise your brain with brain games, even if someone has dementia.
