Actually what makes me more sad is that it's never going to matter because the investors and shareholders want their $$$$ and content will still keep getting churned out while the rest continues to be "addressed". Maybe we need better investors?

While I go disassociate now, please remember to not judge every individual that works for a problematic company right now. There are good people doing good work and making good change. It's the system they work in and the people at the top that are failing them.

seeing lots of “just don’t buy blizzard games.” y’all are missing the point. this is an industry problem. going after smaller companies doesn’t make interesting headlines, so you see less of them in the spotlight for discrimination. doesn’t make them any less subject to toxicity.

I've been asked to opine on design in modern games. So, here goes: I think we're in a dangerous place. We've created a massive library of 'best practices' and 'design methodologies' and 'interface standards' that have made everything in AAA smooth and homogenous. Yuck.

This this this this. I repeat this constantly when I talk to people about hiring. Hire outside the typical talent pools. There are so many diverse minds out their that want to make games and we gatekeep them with bullshit. Let them bring their perspectives to your games.

So after almost 6 years I've decided to leave Ubisoft and pursue some newer, different, exciting challenges. Ubisoft Toronto will always have a deep place in my heart and I will miss you goobers dearly. I'll share what I will be up to after I go take a break and pet some goats.

i think it’s healthy for anyone working in a creative industry who is deeply involved in the zeitgeist of that industry to sometimes take a few days to go hang with friends who have no clue what you do for a living and really don’t care

@glxymichael true, we are slow to reconceptualize things in new design spaces. the first wave of WFH software totally recreates offices in digital spaces (1:1), but the right reconstruction is most likely in the vein of absurd:joy (spatial interface without the weight of physical limits).
