Betting shops and gambling institutions are misery pipelines for today's poor children. Gordon Brown is right: tax the living daylights out of these companies and use the money to fight child poverty.

Ever wondered why Yoruba, a population of 70m people is labelled a "tribe", yet Scotland, a population of 4m people, is considered a "country"? I broke it down for 'Everything Is Political' (full video is available on Instagram):

This is actually brilliant. It's very similar to how some would describe conflict within any African country, between two different groups, tribal war/conflict. Yet mention what's happening between Russia and Ukraine as tribal and some scoff at the idea, it's tribal too.

Nels Abbey Good points. I don't think I ever described the Yoruba as a "tribe" in the years I was lucky enough to report for the BBC on Nigeria. I would usually describe them as an "ethnic group" - though if homing in on Yorubu culture or organisation, I might sometimes use "Yoruba nation".

Not one police officer has thus threatened to down tools or resign in light of being used to blatantly abuse the civil liberties of the British public, following 500+ farcical "terror" arrests over the weekend. Very different situation to when they're held accountable...

Stella, you offer a shockingly anti-feminist and anti-Black reading of history. Malcolm X didn't advocate for "violence against individuals", he advocated for self-defence. Malcolm & Martin both agreed that: "if violence is wrong at home, then it is wrong abroad".

"Right-wing activists". That may not be how Black and Brown people - most notably Muslims - would remember the racist rioters who smashed up their homes, set up racist check points to hunt them, attempted to set hotels ablaze, attacked them in the street...
