This smart juv Pec sand on the flats today, the 20th for the site in its short history with the first in 2006,16 juvs and 4 adults. Undoubtedly the same bird relocating from Blacktoft sands shortly after leaving there around 9am.Lincsbirding

With the flats completely frozen over and some gorgeous winter sunshine Yesterday I was tempted by the reliable but superb Bearded tits. Lincsbirding

In the poorest of spring passages for waders here on the flats you have to be thankful for small mercies so tonight’s diminutive Temmincks stint in the drizzle was most welcome.Lincsbirding

Certainly didn’t expect to add wader species number 46 to my patch list this morning, this confiding Purple sand was a real surprise, just a shame I didn’t carry my camera and had to rely on my phone scoping skills.

Sat on these Montagu’s harrier pics I took on my Alkborough patch for Six years due to the sensitivity of this species. This male a 3yr old Germany tagged bird if my memory serves me right paired and bred across the river but was a regular feature on the flats.

One of the most memorable events at Alkborough was this singing Baillons crake (video) in the middle of the night 2021 and waiting for daylight to hopefully get a glimpse. It showed briefly and fortunately I managed a couple of shots.
