Sadly one of the most common tasks that result in Critical Incident Stress is a recovery.  Best practices are to allow anyone to step away at anytime, reduce the number of team  members with direct exposure and plan for a CISM debrief within 7 days. #CISMSaturday #BCSAR #CISM

A supportive network of family and friends can be helpful for anyone who has experienced a traumatic event.  No training is required - just let them know you care, be willing to listen without judgment and remind them their feelings are common. #CISMSaturday #BCSAR #CISM

Getting out in nature, practicing mindfulness and meditation will all help our bodies produce serotonin, a hormone that stabilizes our mood and feelings of well-being, as well as aiding sleep and digestion.  Some more benefits of a walk in the woods! #CISMSaturday #BCSAR #CISM

Please update your Apple devices. BCSARA has been in discussion with Apple and there was a firmware update issued yesterday that is designed to avoid false activations of their new crash detection system, which is a feature on the Apple iPhone 14 and some Apple watches. #SAR

Always try to keep your vehicle's fuel tank (or EV charge) at least half full. If you need to evacuate on short notice, you'll know you have enough fuel to leave the area. You'll also help prevent condensation from freezing inside your tank and creating fuel line blockages.
