William Cramer, a #postdoctoral research fellow with Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy, researches the gas surrounding galaxies—the circumgalactic medium—and how it contributes to the lifecycle of stars and galaxies. bit.ly/42OFFTp
IrishSat, a University of Notre Dame student club focused on space technology, wins 1st place in the NASA Starshade Undergraduate Challenge. Congratulations to this team of Engineers, and thanks to Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy for the mentoring! Notre Dame Science 🎇🚀🤩 Read ⬇️ engineering.nd.edu/news/irishsat-…
🔭 Our outdoor viewing location on the Irish Green will include 7 solar telescopes, a live eclipse feed showing totality across the path of the eclipse, 😎 free eclipse glasses, and brief demos by Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy students. bit.ly/4bq8md1
If you can't make it to the path of totality, no worries! Keith Davis of University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy have you covered.
Roman Gerasimov, a University of Notre Dame Society of Science Fellow, has won an International Astronomical Union 2023 PhD Prize for his research in stellar physics. Gerasimov will present his research at the International Astronomical Union (IAU) General Assembly in South Africa in August. bit.ly/3UW9ijf

"The true nature of dark matter is a mystery. This research sheds new light on the nature of dark matter and its distribution in the Milky Way and may also improve the accuracy of the precision pulsar data." — Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy Professor John LoSecco newsweek.com/cosmic-timekee…
“We believe our new method is more efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective than current lithium-ion battery recycling techniques." — Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy' Khachatur Manukyan 🔋 bit.ly/4fmxPGv
#PFAS: the Forever Problem University of Notre Dame is tackling "forever chemicals," identifying environmental impacts, developing new ways to measure and manage contaminated water supplies, and exploring new methods of treatment. bit.ly/3Aj2SDa
John LoSecco, Notre Dame Physics & Astronomy professor, has discovered a novel way to potentially identify the presence of dark matter in space by using very precise celestial clocks: A type of neutron star known as a pulsar. science.nd.edu/news-and-media…
